7:00am- Protein Shake- Takes 30 seconds. Pour 8oz vanilla almond milk (43 cents) and protein powder into a Magic Bullet mug. Screw on the blade and blend for 10 seconds.
Cost? Vanilla almond milk (43 cents) and protein powder (43 cents) = $0.86
Dirty dishes? Two. Magic Bullet mug and blade.

At the dealership I had a cup of coffee with soy milk and one packet of Sugar in the Raw.
I came home, changed, and went to the gym. Today I did biceps.
So, I guess I haven't expressed yet why I'm even qualified to give this advice. Firstly, I had/will have a smoking body. A few years ago I did the math and before I even retired I had made over $50,000 off my body. No, I wasn't a hooker. I was one notch above that. For 9 years, from age 17 - 26 I was a gogo dancer. I was paid money to dance on boxes in short shorts for all the gaggles of gays to drool over. Now, I'm not saying I'm the shizz, I wasn't even a "star" gogo boy, just one of the average ones, but I did make over 50K off drinking, dancing, and showing off my body, so I must know a little something. Second, in college I got certified by NESTA (National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association) as a personal trainer. Obviously my certification has lapsed since then, but I have retained a fair amount of knowledge. Third, I read. A lot. In fact, the book that changed my dietary life was "Natural Hormonal Enhancement" by Rob Faigin. The diet is unsustainable which is why I don't recommend it as the sole diet one utilizes. I will say, when I was following the diet to a "T", my body looked the best it ever has and I was only going to the gym one day a week. However, my life revolved around my diet. It's unrealistic and unsustainable to follow that diet unless you are a body builder or that it's somehow your profession to have your day revolve around your diet, but if you can do it, more power to you. My plan is a mixture of all the knowledge I had prior to now in addition to continuous research and reading. My newest kick has been lowering candida levels in the body. We'll get to that eventually, but that's not really the point of this blog. Anywho, on to working out.
As a reminder, the goal is 15 reps to warm up and then 6-8 reps of the heaviest weight you can do while maintaining GOOD FORM. (If there are ladies reading this who want modification info because your goal is to lose weight/tone up instead of adding muscle, please let me know and I'll gladly give you easy modifications).
I started the workout with cable curls using the EZ curl bar. 1 set of 15 reps at 15lbs. 1:15 rest. 1 set of 8 reps at 35lbs. 1:15 rest. 1 set of 7 reps at 42.5lbs. 1:15 rest. And 1 set of 6 reps at 42.5lbs. Total time? 5 minutes, 45 seconds.
I then did high cable curls. 1 set of 15 reps at 10lbs. 1:15 rest. 1 set of 9 reps at 20lbs (I lost count, meant to do 8). 1:15 rest 1 set of 5 reps at 25lbs. 1:15 rest. 1 set of 7 reps at 20lbs. Note the fluctuation in weight. My form got sloppy on the 3rd set so I lowered the weight. You have to check your ego at the door. Did I feel like a pussy not being able to do 6 curls at 25 lbs? Of course I did. I used to rock that shit. Furthermore, lowering my weight? WTF? I'm supposed to get stronger, not weaker, right? NO. WRONG. A) I got run over by a car so my shit is whack. B) Using your muscles will, SHOCKER, tire your muscles. And C) I was doing my best. You can't be upset with yourself or chide yourself if you are doing your best. Your best is the best you can do and you have to feel good about that. I think one of the best books ever is "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz (thanks Nick!). One of the four agreements is "Always Do Your Best". The thing to remember is that your best can change from day to day or even minute to minute. The best you can do when you're sick is different from when you're healthy. The best you can do on the day they put your cat to sleep is different than the day you win an office lunch at Chipotle. So, if you have to lower the weight, then lower the weight. It's ok. Total time? 5:45.
Then I did bicep curls again, only this time I used an overhand grip on the EZ curl bar and I widened my grip. Waking up early must have dazed me a bit because I again lost count and only did 10 reps at 20lbs as a warm-up instead of the usual 15 reps. I then did 6 reps at 30lbs, 6 reps at 30lbs, and 7 reps at 25lbs. Again, I had to lower the weight because my form was getting sloppy and it doesn't matter how much weight you can throw around, if you aren't doing it right, then you're not really getting the full benefits of the exercise. Of course, I rested for 1:15 between each set. Total time? 5:45. (I couldn't find a picture of this, but if you can read this blog entry then you're obviously not retarded so imagine the same picture below but widen your grip and grip the bar in an overhand fashion. Done and done.)
Lastly, I did abs. 10 minutes.
Total time at gym? 27 minutes, 15 seconds.

I came home and made eggs and sausage and then went to work. Now, I know this diet can seem kind of repetitive, but I'm a Taurus and a creature of habit, so I'm ok with it. You however, can modify as you'd like. Stick to what I told you to buy. For instance, in your eggs, if you don't want sausage, throw in some tomatoes and tabasco or some sliced turkey and spinach. It's up to you. I'll try to be a little more creative next week.
Eggs and Sausage- Takes under 2 minutes to make this. Microwave the sausage for 30 seconds on the plate you’re going to eat off of. While that’s microwaving take four eggs (2 just whites, 2 whole) and start scrambling them over high heat in a medium sized pot. Now the sausage is done. Chop it up and mix it with the eggs while you’re scrambling them all together and continue to scramble until the eggs are done.
Cost? Four eggs (56 cents total) and one turkey sausage (80 Cents)= $1.36.
Dirty dishes? Four. Plate, pot, knife, fork.

Got to work and had oatmeal.
Oatmeal- Takes 1 minute. Mix 1/2 a serving of vanilla almond milk and an oatmeal packet in a microwaveable bowl. Sprinkle a little cinnamon in there if you’d like.
Cost? Oatmeal (41 cents) and vanilla almond milk (22 cents)= $0.63
Dirty dishes? Two. Bowl and spoon.

Topher came to visit me at work and we went to Starbucks. I had a grande drip with cold soy and two Sugar in the Raw packets. Total cost? $2.05
I had a lunch with an attorney from Turner so no salad today. We went to Sweetsalt Food Shop in Toluca Lake. I also had dinner out, so today I didn't really stick to the diet. AND THAT'S OK. If you beat yourself up all the time or don't let yourself falter, then you're just going to end up failing. It's ok to deviate but if you notice that for two or three days you've been deviating, then you need to reevaluate if you really want that smokin (and healthy) body. And if you don't...THAT'S OK! We've been so brainwashed to think that unless we're a size two or less or unless we have a six pack and massive guns that we're not attractive or worthwhile. That's bullshit. Every single image we're fed is airbrushed, photoshopped, well lit, made up, it's endless. You are beautiful the way you are. If you want to improve yourself, then great! If you're happy as you are, then great!
At Sweetsalt I had an AMAZING duck sandwich and salad. The sandwich was duck, goat cheese spread, alfalfa sprouts, and a lavender honey spread. It was absolutely divine. For a drink I had a blackberry Hint Water. Did I want the Izze Soda instead? Yes, yes I did. But I was already eating out, deviating from my diet, so I was making sacrifices in other areas. If you do the same, it'll all balance out in the end. It's easy to think "Well, I might as well go out with a bang" or "I've already slipped up so might as well enjoy it" and add on that Izze Soda, but trust me, if you are careful you can eat pretty much anything you want a lot of the time. Just make up for it in other areas.
Around 4pm I had a snack: Vegetable juice followed by a yogurt cup.
Veggie Juice- Mix 8 ounces of Essential Greens Vegetable Juice (1/2 a bottle) with 4 ounces of Carrot Juice (1/8 of a bottle).
Cost? Vegetable juice ($1.85), carrot juice (44 cents) yogurt cup (50 cents) = $2.79
Dirty dishes? Two. A cup and a spoon.

Around 6:30 I had my final work meal, some chicken and brown rice.
Rice and Chicken- Takes 1 minute 45 seconds. Pour 1/3 a bag of brown rice and 1/4 pack of chicken into a microwaveable dish and microwave for 1:30.
Cost? Rice (56 cents) and chicken ($1.50) = $2.06
Dirty dishes? Two. Bowl, fork.

After work, I went and had dinner with my new friend Vi. So.......Vi is the girl that ran me over. We've hung out twice now and I really like her. Yes, it's incredibly crazy that we're friends, we both fully acknowledge this, but she's cool and funny and slightly insane, so we're like two peas in a pod. We went to Luna Park. I had an Absolut Mandarin and soda and 1/2 a Margarita pizza. Again, that's pizza two nights this week (and it's only Wednesday!) so I'll be good the rest of this week. Still, how often does one get to break bread with the Asian woman driver who ran them over? Not often enough I say! So, I splurged. Pizza. Yum.
I will have a protein shake before bed and that will be the end of day 3.
Total cost of eating right today? $10.71 (Luna Park and Sweetsalt were not factored into that cost because I was not eating "right" at either establishment)
